Daily Blog Tips launched its second round of Blogging Idol on November 1st, running through the end of the month. Group Writing Projects is among the over 120 participants.
What is Blogging Idol?
Created by Daniel Scocco of Daily Blog Tips fame and inspired by US popstar search television show American Idol, the idea is to find bloggers “in the rough” who can show off their skill by growing their blog tremendously in a short period of time.
How does the contest work?
This 2nd edition is points-based, with participants able to earn points 3 ways according to this quote from the announcement post:
- 1 point to the competitor with the highest increase on the number of RSS subscribers
- 3 points to the competitors (one for each) with the highest number of votes on the open voting session
- 3 points awarded by a panel of judges
The judging and voting will be based on which blogs have the most impressive strategy for growth during the competition i.e. how to gain the most RSS subscribers and best promotional activities.
The open voting session will begin November 18th, and I’m hoping you’ll help me out when the time comes.
You can even follow the RSS increases via the live Blogging Idol scoreboard.
How am I planning to win?
I don’t want to give away my strategy so early in the competition, but I’ll give you a hint- think back to the first Blogging Idol competition during the summer and how it was mentioned here on GWP. And even then, that’s just part of it.
I will post again soon about what you can do to help me win the contest…

In the 1st edition, all active participants were winners in picking up new tips and tricks for their blogging, and I’m sure it will be the same this time.
Good luck to everyone participating!
Not looking good for me so far. 🙂 I am in for some motivation and learning mostly.
Whew, that’s a lot of blogs participating – and I happen to be one of them. Good luck, Jacob! I’m curious to find out what your strategy is.. 😛
Rarst- you will get both motivation and education, you’ll see.
Gyutae- Thanks! If you subscribed, you’ll see soon enough 🙂
